Welcome, and thank you for visiting my site. I am Andrea Kovács, a general and family mediator. Allow me to introduce myself in a few sentences and to share with you how my path led me to mediation.
I have long been interested in what goes on inside us, in the feelings, needs and experiences that lie behind our decisions, our behaviour and our relationships. Although I earned a law degree, already during my university years I felt that what truly stood close to me was understanding how people work and the processes of the inner life. Over the years this interest only grew stronger, so later I began studying psychology. Today I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and I am continuing my studies at master’s level.
For me, mediation is precisely where these two worlds meet – the orderliness of law and the human-centredness of psychology – and perhaps that is why I feel this vocation to be so much my own. Resolving conflict has always been a natural part of my life. I have gladly helped to clear up misunderstandings, to bring differing points of view closer together and to restore relationships that had lost their balance. As a mediator I can now do all of this within a structured, safe framework.
I earned my mediator qualification in the general and family mediation specialisation programme at ELTE University.
I have worked at an international company and I still work in an office, in a team, so I know from the inside the dynamics of working together and how much a good environment matters. This experience helps me feel at home in workplace situations, in tensions within a team and in conflicts that arise in smaller communities alike.
My husband and I share a seventeen-year friendship that has been love for nine years. In our relationship, honest communication has always held a central place, and day after day I experience how much it means when two people truly hear each other. This personal experience also helps me to support the couples and families who come to me with sensitivity.
I believe that with the right communication many conflicts can be resolved, damaged relationships can be repaired, and parties who have drifted apart can come closer to each other again. The first and most important step towards this is often that every party is genuinely open to looking for a solution. This is what I would like to help you with, too.
